Final Individual Cultural Diversity Course Reflection #4

                      Final course reflection

Culture diversity is important. specially in countries such as the UAE. Since there is a lot of people from different countries and cultures. we need to learn about the other cultures. In this class we learn about the differences between cultures and how can we avoid racism. this course changed my daily life it also changed my way of thinking toward people from different cultures and believes.

The best three classes I enjoyed the most are first the Emirate video project. I liked this project because I liked working with my friends and I also like interviewing tourists. I learn new things about my culture. I did enjoy cultural dimensions lesson it was new and exciting it was one of my best classes. Then comes the slavery class I enjoyed that class it was nice to know and learn about slavery in our days and how did the slavery start. These are the most enjoyable classes I had.

This course is important because it teach the students about the different cultures and the best way to interact with people from different cultures. these are essential skills that you will need for your future career.

I believe that the best age for students to learn about culture diversity is 13 because in this age the student will start to create his ideas about the world. That is why we should educate the students about culture diversity in that age. Also, when students learn about the other cultures ideas such as racism and discrimination won't appear in those students.

The most interesting thing that I learnt in this course was when we learn about the racism and the other isms. Also, the way we can avoid these ideas and what did the UAE government do to get rid of these bad ideas.

If we have harmony day, it will be so exciting for tourist and citizens, I think the best time to held the festival is in winter because of the great weather and the tourism season. The celebration most  be in an open place where people can enjoy the weather, and when they advertise it and call it THE UAE CULTURE DAY.

This is so important course and I like it so much because of the new things that I learn in it. This course should be thought to the students at an earlier age. Because the earlier the students learn about culture diversity the best and better it is.

Exercise #10C

What did J.Robinson / Rosa Parks do to fight discrimination / and long term effects on US / America?

Jackie Robinson:

Jackie Robinson broke organized baseball's color barrier with a characteristic bang, homering and scoring four runs in his historic first game for the Brooklyn Dodgers' top farm team. This anniversary will no doubt unleash a wave of media meditations, since it combines the two national pastimes of the American male intellectual: denouncing racism and waxing nostalgic over the Brooklyn Dodgers. Spike Lee is preparing The Jackie Robinson Saga, and I'm sure Stephen Jay Gould will favor us with his thoughts.

Rosa Parks:

When she refused to leave her seat because it was a white passenger seat on a city bus, which was the reason that sent her to the prison. Then the black people stop using the city bus. That lead to the end of the seat discrimination. this was one of the events that is generally seen as the beginning of a decade-long battle against segregation which mobilized millions and won the support of workers all over the world.

Exercise #10B

Blog Exercise 10B: Add 50-100 words (#10B) to your reflection about

What else has the UAE done to try to ensure human rights for its workers and to stop human trafficing? Why is this important for the (your) government to take this stand??

Our government ensured human rights for the workers, the workers also have the freedom of speech but in a limit, also freedom of religions that every person can do his prayers without worry, in the UAE also the womens have their rights. all of that happend thanks to our leaders hard work, care and wisdom.

Giving people specially the workers their rights is very important thing that can make people feel the equality of all people, when the people of a country feel that they are equal that will make the society a happier and safer place for the people.

Exercise #10A

Blog Exercise 10A: Write a reflection of 50-100 words (#10A) about modern slavery today. What do you think?? Figure out how many slaves work for you.. and post on your blog..

Nowadays our conservative estimate is that there are around 21-30 million people in slavery. which means that today  there are more people in slavery than at any time in the human history. Slavery has existed for a long time ago, but the changes in the world’s economy and societies over the past 50 years have enabled a resurgence of slavery. I think slavery is really bad and dangerous because it deny the human right. It can also create an unstable society full of hatred.

I completed the survey on slaveryfootprint.org. My result was that there are 19 slaves work for me.

Reflection #1

                                                  Emirate Culture Video

When I start making this video about Emirati Culture I have got more information about our history and culture that before making this video I didn't know about it or even comes to my mind. In the beginning I though that making this movie is going to be hard. Since we start to work in a team with 5 Students, we started to share our ideas and help each other it does make the work easier and better for us. We learn about how emirate people used some old tool like the water well and how they made. Also, we learn about the equipment of the falcon that people were using when hunting with falcons and also the equipment that people put on the camels and the tools people used when go to fishing or dive for oyster. We also learn new things from the tourists about what's famous in their culture and how they think about the Emirate culture. Also we learn a lot about the tough live of our grandparents, and how they used animals, tools and creativity to survive. Moreover, we learn about the changes that happened due to the hard work of our rulers and how did the UAE evolve in a spectacular way. In addition, we found out how that tourism encourage and promote the identity of the Emirate culture and that the Emirate culture is more of a garden salad than a melting pot and that it is because the people who came to the UAE from different countries can keep the aspects of their culture. In the end I would say that the UAE culture is unique in it's own way.
